Verifying a New Hire Arrived for the First Day of Work
On the new hire's first day of work, the HR User will confirm the new hire has reported for work at the assigned duty location. The HR User confirms this action by physically meeting with the new hire or confirming with field office staff responsible for onboarding the new hire.
To electronically record the new hire has reported for the first day of work, the HR User will go to the new hire's Overview page and click the Verify New Hire Arrived for First Day of Duty button. Clicking this button enters the Completed Date for the Verify the New Hire Arrived for their First Day of Duty task listed on the Manage Tasks page. The completion date for this task is considered the new hire's official start date.
Note: Please exercise judgment and caution when clicking this button. The completion date for this task is critical for your agency's time-to-hire metrics. You will not be able to modify the audit status on the certificate for this record after this task has been completed. Therefore, this task should only be completed ON or AFTER the new hire arrives for the first day of work.
